Hybrid pansori/funk project formed in 2019 by Jang Young Gyu. It describes itself as an 'alternative pop band' and takes its name from a renowned 19th-century (late Joseon dynasty) pansori singer (and tightrope-walker) called Lee Nal-chi ('nalchi' means 'flying fish' in Korean and was a stage name). The band, which earned five nominations at the 2021 Korean Music Awards, rejects the label 'fusion gugak' and has said 'At its core, what we want to make is pop music', while founding vocalist 안이호 has described Leenalchi's balance between mastery of pansori while not being pansori as 'tightrope walking'. The band came to prominence in 2020 when a Korean tourism video featuring its song 'Tiger is Coming' and the Ambiguous Dance Company went viral.
